Objectives

The global business major prepares students for careers with firms engaged in global business. Emphasis is placed on perceiving the problems and opportunities of operating in an global environment.

Requirements

In order to earn the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree with a major in Global Business, students must complete a minimum of 180 quarter credits with a cumulative and major/program grade point average of 2.25, including the following:

V. Supplemental Activities

Choose two activities from the following four:

Demonstrate competency through the 135 level in a language other than English by successful course completion or acceptable performance on the Modern Language Competency Examination. The course may not be taken on a pass-fail, correspondence, or audit bases. Competency in languages not offered by the Modern Languages Department may be acceptable if approved by the Global Business Program Director and successfully demonstrated to the Modern Languages Department.
Complete a 3-5 credit internship (or the equivalent on a not-for-credit basis) with a company involved in global business in the Seattle area, pre-approved by the Global Business Program Director. See the Albers Placement Center regarding internships for credit and the Global Business Academic Advisor regarding not-for-credit internships.
Participate in a global experience pre-approved by the Global Business Programs Director. May include studies abroad, SU short-term summer field study, or other international experiences pre-approved by the Global Business Programs Director. Only coursework verified through the Education Abroad course approval process will be eligible to earn transfer credit towards the SU degree.
Earn an international economic development or international studies minor.

NOTE:

Internships and independent studies may not be used to satisfy a major requirement.
Global Business majors who are international students (educated abroad until age 16 in a language other than English) have met the supplemental activities requirement.
Participation in Seattle University’s International Development Internship Program may satisfy 5 quarter credits of major electives.

*Major requirements must earn a C- grade or better.
