Objectives
The Seattle University Education Abroad Office seeks to facilitate intellectual and intercultural experiences that contribute to students’ lives of leadership and engagement in the Jesuit tradition.
For a list of eligible programs consult with the Education Abroad Office or visit www.seattleu.edu/abroad/. For current policy governing study abroad participation, visit Education Abroad Policy and Procedures on the Registrar’s webpage. Education abroad program applicants must receive university approval as well as completed required paperwork filed with the Education Abroad Office. Eligibility includes good academic standing, a clear conduct record and permission of the major advisor. Several programs have additional eligibility requirements. The university will not approve study abroad to locations for which the United States Department of State has issued a travel advisory of levels three or four.
In addition to quarter and semester-long education abroad opportunities, most Seattle University colleges and schools offer faculty directed international courses each summer. For the undergraduate, these courses add an international field-study component to courses taught during the spring quarter. For example, students enrolled in an international course attend lectures on-campus during the spring quarter and then conduct fieldwork abroad in an intensive, compressed format.
