HUMT 3850 - (De)Constructing Community Development in Mexico

1 to 3 credit hours
This course introduces you to the complexities of the US-Mexico border, immerses you in the real work of community development, and provides a personal lens through which to critically reflect on your own aspirations for social change and global citizenship. Weekly seminars and formation sessions (1) build your understanding of the essential issues connected to the US-Mexico border and the opportunities and challenges faced as a result of its complexities, and (2) create a sense of community among immersion participants to promote shared understanding of our purpose, with emphasis on the complexities of international service-learning. Academic coursework before, during and after the experience rely on reflection in the Ignatian tradition.

Optional co-requisites: CISS 2500 or designated sections of UCOR 1600, 3400, or 3600
