Requirements
In order to earn the bachelor of science degree with a major in diagnostic ultrasound, students must complete a minimum of 180 quarter credits with a cumulative and major/program grade point average of 2.50, including the following:
I. Core Curriculum Requirements
Module I: Engaging Academic Inquiry
Module II: Engaging Jesuit Traditions
Module III: Engaging the World
II. Major Requirements
90 credits in diagnostic ultrasound with 10 credits specific to chosen track, including:
Senior Synthesis: Ultrasound Internship*
Cardiovascular or General/Vascular Track (Choose one 10-credit track)
NOTES:
*A calendar-year internship is necessary for entry into professional employment and certification. This internship is a part of the degree and follows after the academic course requirements are met. The Diagnostic Ultrasound Department does not guarantee that the 12-month internship will be located in the Seattle area, or in the state of Washington. Because of the professional nature of the program, qualities in addition to a good grade point average are required of internship candidates.
1. Students must provide physician verification of good health and immunizations during the junior year.
2. All courses must be graded C (2.00) or higher.
III. Other Major Department Requirements
Choose a MATH option: (5 or 10)
Completing the math option is a prerequisite to DIUS 3500. NOTES:
- MATH 1021 and MATH 1022 are prerequisites to PHYS 1050 /1051 and MATH 1230 . MATH 1021 and MATH 1022 may count towards the 5-credit math/science elective. If MATH 1334 and 1335 are completed for the math option, MATH 1335 may count towards the 5-credit math/science elective. MATH 1210 is a recommended elective. Contact the department regarding preferred course sequence.
- A grade of C or higher is required in all Other Major Requirements.
