MATH 1021 - Precalculus: Algebra

5 credit hours
Formerly - MATH 120/1321
A study of functions including polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions; composite and inverse functions; theory of polynomial equations; other selected topics. Provides review and extension of basic algebraic methods for solving equations and inequalities. Problem solving and mathematical writing are emphasized as well as algebraic skill. Graphing calculator required. Credit not granted for both MATH 1010 (formerly MATH 118/1120) and MATH 1021 (formerly MATH 120/1321). Core mathematics option.

Prerequisite Course(s): a grade of C- or better in MATH 1000 (formerly MATH 110/1020) or a satisfactory score on SAT or ACT or the Mathematics Placement Exam
