STMM 509 - Deacon Studies III

Orientation, 10 weekends which include prayer, lecture, discussion, and liturgy. Topics include: Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, theology and spirituality of the Deacon, justice and service, Church History, preaching, Word and Sacrament role of Deacons, the ecclesial ministry of the Deacon, and formation for servant leadership and diaconal service. In addition to completing regular monthly assignments, students submit a 10-page synthesis of the year. Prerequisite: Must be accepted into a diaconal ministry preparation program.
