STMC 552 - Individual Counseling Theory and Techniques

This course provides a basic foundation for counseling individuals from an integrated psychotherapeutic and pastoral perspective. A variety of counseling theories will be considered enabling students to conceptualize client behaviors and make appropriate choices for assessment and intervention. Foundational skills for counselors are practiced. Students learn how to develop, maintain, and terminate clinical relationships, establish goals, design intervention strategies, and evaluate therapeutic outcomes.  Prerequisite: STMC 551.
