SADL 511 - Sport Philosophy and Ethics

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to discourse intelligently about major issues in philosophy of sport, such as: What is sport? Is it at base a type of play? How does the pursuit of victory or the pursuit of bodily excellence affect the nature of athletic activity? What exactly is sportsmanship? Students will read some of the major authors in contemporary philosophy of sport and will be encouraged to state and defend an argument regarding their own view of philosophy of sport and sport ethics.
