NURS 552 - Psychopharmacology in Advanced Practice Nursing

Examination of pharmacotherapy and analysis of complex pharmacological principles germane to advanced practice nurses in the treatment of common psychiatric and mental health disorders using diagnostic criteria detailed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Mechanisms of action, drug-drug interactions, and other pertinent aspects of the process of selecting appropriate therapeutic interventions are evaluated. Appropriate treatment across patient lifespan, concurrent pathophysiology, and socioeconomic circumstances are assessed. Prerequisites: NURS 501, 521, 522 or by permission.
