SADL 5180 - Sport Event Planning

3 credit hours
Formerly - SADL 518
After successful completion of this course students will be able to identify and understand traditional and niche sport, recreation and tourism events; develop planning documents for an event, which include selection of event, developing objectives, strategies, and tactics, selection of venue and preliminary budget including anticipated revenue and costs. In addition, students will be able to understand and create the operational plan for a sport event, which includes developing marketing and sponsorship strategies, media strategies; developing timelines, schedules and responsibilities for activities leading up to and through the event. The timelines, schedules and responsibilities include communication and information systems, transportation and traffic flow, hospitality, personnel, registration, finances, restroom and waste facilities. This course is a prerequisite for 5080.
