STMA 5770 - UCC Ministry and Polity

This course examines the way the United Church of Christ (UCC) is organized and governed, focusing specifically on the Manual On Ministry and other documents that guide decision-making in the UCC. Students will learn the paths to ordination, write a draft of an ordination paper and discuss the changing self-images of religious leaders in our culture, the nitty-gritty of pastoral life and the challenges of ministry faced in institutions and culture. Completion of STMA 5760 UCC History and Theology is highly recommended prior to taking this course.
