NURS 6130 - Foundations of Nursing Knowledge for Advanced Practice3 credit hours Formerly - NURS 613 Provides a foundation for the formation of Doctor of Nursing (DNP) students. Students are introduced to the DNP essentials through the lens of Jesuit discernment. Philosophical and theoretical foundations of advanced practice are explored. Nursing theories are analyzed as examples of how the concepts of Person, Environment, Nursing and Health have been defined and applied in building a body of Nursing knowledge. Prepares students to integrate theories from Nursing and related disciplines as the basis for theory-guided nursing practice and theory. Registration restrictions may be bypassed by the department with permission of instructor.
