NURS 5033 - Motivating Change in Addictive Behavior: Theory, Practice and Policy3 credit hours Formerly - NURS 533 This advanced practice course emphasizes the theory and practice of motivational interviewing as a foundational philosophy and skill for facilitating behavior change in individuals with addictions. The social and economic consequences of addictions are examined as they affect the health and access to healthcare for individuals, families, and communities. Health policies affecting the care of individuals with addictions are explored. Registration restrictions may be bypassed by the department with permission of instructor.
