Master of Professional Accounting/Master of Science in Business Analytics (MPAC/MSBA)

Students in this program will receive the MSBA degree taking 36 hours of unique MSBA credits instead of the normal 45 hours, and will receive the MPAC degree by taking 37 hours of unique MPAC credits instead of the normal 46. Total hours for both degrees is 73, excluding prerequisites. Students must complete all prerequisites for both programs. For the MSBA degree, students can use nine hours of MPAC accounting course work as electives in the MSBA program. For the MPAC degree, students can use nine hours from the MSBA required courses as electives in their MPAC program. Students participating in this program must meet the admissions standards of both degree programs and declare their participation before completing 75% of the first degree program they enroll in.

Degree Requirements:


I. Prerequisites


To be completed prior to beginning the MSBA program:

  • Programming
  • Business Calculus
  • Statistics
  • Introduction to Finance
  • Micro or Macro Economics
  • Financial Accounting
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Intermediate Accounting I
  • Cost Accounting
  • Excel Certificate, Spreadsheet course or equivalent

Note:


Students with previous comparable course work with a B- (2.70) or better have the option of waiving these courses.

II. Co-Requisites


a. To be completed first quarter course is available for MPAC:

  • Professional Writing

Note: Writing requirement may be satisfied with a 25% or higher on the GMAT verbal and writing section.

b. To be completed by spring quarter prior to enrolling in BUAN 5260  for MSBA:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Microeconomics
  • Introduction to Finance
  • Introduction to Marketing

Note: Students with previous comparable course work with a B- (2.70) or better have the option of waiving these courses.

III. Required Core

With permission of the Accounting Department Chair, students may include 3 internship credits.
