Master of Professional Accounting/Master of Science in Finance (MPAC/MSF)

Students in this program will receive the MPAC degree taking 37 hours of unique MPAC credits instead of the normal 46 credit hours, and will receive the MSF degree taking 36 hours of unique MSF credits instead of the normal 45. Total hours for both degrees is 73, excluding prerequisites. Students must complete all prerequisites for both programs.  For the MPAC degree, students can use nine hours of MSF Core or electives as electives in the MPAC program. For the MSF degree, students can use nine hours of MPAC accounting courses as electives in the MSF toward the requirements in their Support Field. Students participating in this program must meet the admissions standards of both degree programs and declare their participation before completing at least 75% of the first degree program they enroll in.

I. Prerequisites


  • Statistics
  • Basic Finance
  • Micro or Macro Economics
  • Financial Accounting
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Intermediate Financial Accounting I
  • Cost Accounting
  • Excel Certificate, Spreadsheet course or equivalent

Note:


Students with previous comparable course work with a B- (2.70) or better have the option of waiving these classes.

II. Co-Requisite


To be completed first quarter course is available for MPAC:

  • Professional Writing

Writing requirement may be satisfied with a 25% or higher on the GMAT/GRE verbal and writing section.

III. Required Core

Courses chosen may not also count towards Additional Required Finance course requirement.

  • Choose 2 business courses outside of ACCT, BUAN, ECON, FINC, IS, or Entrepreneurship for 6 credits
  • Choose an additional 3 business electives from any discipline for 9 credits
