Cell and Molecular Biology, BS

Requirements


In order to earn the bachelor of science with a major in cell and molecular biology degree, students must complete a minimum of 180 quarter credits with a cumulative and major/program grade point average of 2.00, including the following:

NOTES:


  1. A minimum grade of C (2.00) is required for any biology course that will serve as a prerequisite for another biology course.
  2. A maximum of 5 credits of independent study in biology can be counted towards the 10 credits of biology electives.

 55 credits in chemistry, mathematics, and physics, including:

Candidacy


Candidacy is required for enrollment into the first core courses of the Cell and Molecular Biology curriculum: BIOL 2750 /2751 .  Candidacy is achieved by successfully completing the following:  BIOL 1610  /1611 , 1620  /1621 , 1630  /1631  (all with C or better), and CHEM 1520  (all with C- or better);  BIOL 2700  (with a C+ or better); and a minimum biology major grade point average of 2.8.
