Master of Divinity/Chaplaincy Specialization

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: School of Theology and Ministry

The field of chaplaincy has been changing and growing. Research shows that healthcare and mental health organizations, corporations, entertainment venues, airports, police and fire departments, the military and other organizations have hired qualified people to serve as chaplains to their employees and customers. These fields add to more traditional chaplain appointments found in hospitals, senior centers, and hospice providers. In addition, many of our denominational partners require that candidates from their traditions be ordained and appointed to these positions of ministry. The degree meets the certification requirements of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and the American Board of Certified Chaplains. It also meets ordination requirements for most Protestant, Episcopalian, and other association ecclesial communities.
