ARIN 5410 - AI Governance3 credit hours This course will present an overview of legal and political tools to foster, direct and contain technological innovation. While artificial intelligence has a wide range of applications and benefits, it can also have harmful consequences, especially for members of vulnerable communities along the lines of class, race, gender, ability and immigration status. Addressing the negative social impact of AI requires sustained efforts from social movements, researchers and politicians striving for social justice. This course will explore the actors, processes and outcomes of these efforts to build technology safely and responsibly.
