ENGL 3830 - Detective Fiction5 credit hours Formerly - ENGL 389 A study of the genre of detective fiction from its beginnings (Poe, Conan-Doyle) through its golden age in Britain (Christie, Allingham) and America (Hammett, Chandler). The class also considers more contemporary iterations of the genre (Paretsky, James, Mosley, and others). The primary literature is read alongside theoretical investigations of the genre’s possibilities and limitations.
