Degree Requirements:
The MPA requires the completion of 54 credits. The degree includes eight Required courses and four courses in an Area of Emphasis. The remaining 18 credits are electives designed to enrich each student’s understanding of particular aspects of public service and deal with topics such as local government, geographic information systems, leadership, social justice, and strategic planning.
II. Area of Emphasis Courses (12)
Students must complete four of the following courses. Students can choose an area of emphasis in government by completing PUBM 5410, 5710, 5720, and one additional course listed below. Students may choose an area of emphasis in nonprofit by completing PUBM 5820, 5870, 5880, and one additional course listed below. Students who do not wish to choose an area of emphasis complete any four of the eight courses listed below.
