Requirements

In order to earn the bachelor of science in chemistry degree, students must complete a minimum of 180 quarter credits with a cumulative and major/department grade point average of 2.00, including the following:

I. Core Curriculum Requirements

Module I: Engaging Academic Inquiry

UCOR 1100 - Academic Writing Seminar
UCOR 1200 - Quantitative Reasoning (satisfied in major)
UCOR 1300 - Creative Expression and Interpretation
UCOR 1400 - Inquiry Seminar in the Humanities
UCOR 1600 - Inquiry Seminar in the Social Sciences
UCOR 1800 - Inquiry Seminar in the Natural Sciences (satisfied in major)

Module II: Exploring the Self and Others

Module III: Engaging the World

II. Major Requirements

63 credits in chemistry, including:

NOTE:

For the American Chemical Society certified degree option, the 3-credit elective, above under II, becomes 6 credits and these must include CHEM 4500 .
For students planning graduate work, any of the courses, MATH 2320 , MATH 2340 , or CHEM 4700 , CHEM 4701 , CHEM 4800 , CHEM 4500 , CHEM 4510 , CHEM 4520 , CHEM 4501 , and CHEM 4511 are strongly recommended as electives.
