PUBA 4900 - Senior Synthesis

5 credit hours
The purpose of the PUBA senior synthesis course is to provide you an opportunity to reflect on what you have learned over the course of your college education, apply course concepts and key analytical skills to a real-world management or policy problem, and prepare for life post-SU. Your senior capstone project is the heart of the course.  In your capstone project, you will: (1) Identify and describe a policy, program or management problem that is of pertinent social significance; (2) Use empirical studies and primary-sourced data to understand what we currently know about a problem, stakeholders’ interests, and potential solutions; (3) Apply the concepts and skills used in your college education to critically assess the problem and potential solutions; (4) Make well-founded recommendations that are based on reason and evidence; and, (5) Produce a professional and persuasive written and oral report that is of value to the stakeholders in the particular policy issue under investigation. Note, it is possible (and encouraged) to link your capstone to a client-based project. You must get prior permission from the organization that you will be working with and instructor permission to conduct a client-based project.
