ENGL 3230 - Medieval Marvels5 credit hours An investigation of the category of the marvelous in the Middle Ages. The class considers texts from multiple genres (poetry, prose, history, medicine, travel) in order to complicate our notion not only of the Middle Ages, but of the wondrous. Texts may include: Pliny’s Natural History, The Golden Legend, The Trotula, The Travels of Sir John Mandeville, Chaucer’s Dream Visions, The Wonders of the East, as well as Middle English Romances.
