ANTH 2140 - Linguistic Anthropology5 credit hours Formerly - ANTH 3130 Linguistic anthropology is the study of the relationship between language and culture. In this course, students are introduced to major themes in linguistic anthropology including the structural aspects of language, how languages evolve over time and how they are affected by globalization, language as it relates to identity - race, ethnicity, class and gender, the relationship between language and culture, the kinds of research linguistic anthropologists conduct, the methods they use and how their work can be applied to real world settings.
