NURS 5000 - Life-Saving Skills for Childbearing Women3 credit hours Formerly - NURS 500 Focus on evidenced based practice approaches to ambulatory and inpatient prevention of common and acute health conditions of women and newborns throughout the childbearing year. Skills for immediate assessment and supportive management of the newborn, including physiological, psychosocial and pharmacologic interventions will be stressed. Skills to prevent and manage common life threatening problems of childbearing women and newborns in low and high resource settings will be included. Age related, cultural, family and community variations will be incorporated. This course may be offered in an intensive format and includes lab practice.
Prerequisite Course: NURS 5001, 5024 or permission of instructor Co-requisite Course: NURS 5001
