Requirements

In order to earn a minor in social welfare students must complete 31 to 33 credits with a grade point average of 2.00, including:

SOCW 1510 - Introduction to Social Work 5 credit hours
SOCW 2010 - Social Justice 5 credit hours
SOCW 3010 - Human Behavior in the Social Environment 3 credit hours
SOCW 3020 - Human Development and Social Work 5 credit hours
SOCW 3040 - U.S. Social Welfare Policy 5 credit hours

Choose two from the following courses:

SOCW 3030 - Juvenile Justice 5 credit hours
SOCW 3170 - Race and Ethnicity 5 credit hours
SOCW 3320 - Mental Illness 5 credit hours
SOCW 4340 - Introduction to Alcohol and Drug Addiction 3 credit hours
SOCW 4350 - Social Work with Children and Youth 5 credit hours
SOCW 4360 - Queer Social Movements 5 credit hours
other courses as approved by Program Director

NOTES:

Transfer students must take at least 15 upper-division SOCW credits at Seattle University for the minor.
