In order to earn a minor in Middle Eastern Studies, students must complete a total of 30 credits, with a minor grade point average of 2.00 or above, including the following:
History
Choose one of the following history courses (5 credits):
Choose 20 credits from courses approved as Middle Eastern Studies minor electives. Courses not selected for History and/or Religion requirements may count as electives:
Additional courses with director approval, including Individualized Study on topics related to the region.
Experiential Learning (optional)
It is strongly recommended that students:
Participate in a short or quarter-long Study Abroad program in a Middle Eastern or North Africa country. Up to 15 credits from other Universities (including regional language courses such as Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew, or Turkish) may apply towards the minor.
Courses selected for the minor in Middle Eastern Studies may include those which fulfill university core or elective requirements and those taken to fulfill a major. See policy for Undergraduate Minors (84-1) for more information.
