Kinesiology with Departmental Honors, BS

The Kinesiology Departmental Honors major will offer students an in-depth exploration of research within of of Kinesiology’s sub-disciplines. Students will address a research question of interest, which will be applied to real world problems and solutions surrounding human function and performance

Application to the major: To be accepted to the program, students must have a cumulative and major/program grade point average of 3.5 when they apply for the major. Students can apply for the honors track as early as winter quarter of their junior year and no later than May 1 of their junior year. To apply, students complete a form provided by the Kinesiology Department indicating proposed research topic approved by faculty supervisor. Upon acceptance, a Change of Major, Degree or Specialization form is submitted to the Office of the Registrar.

Completion of the major: Students in departmental honors complete 10 credits above the norm for Kinesiology majors. Students will be expected to develop a research design with which to collect, analyze and interpret data that will ultimatley answer the proposed research question. During KINE 4780 , students will work with their supervisor to prepare for and begin data collection. Students will complete data collection, analysis and interpretation during KINE 4790 , resulting in a written thesis.
