Master of Science in Computer Science with Specializations in Data Science and Software Engineering

Students earning a Data Science specialization have the option to earn a second specialization in Software Engineering.

Degree Requirements

Complete the requirements for the Master of Science in Computer Science with a Specialization in Data Science (49 credits) and the following Software Engineering Specialization courses:

Software Engineering Specialization Courses

21 credits, including:

CPSC 5120 - Software Project Management 3 credit hours
CPSC 5200 - Software Architecture and Design 5 credit hours ¹
CPSC 5210 - Software Testing and Debugging 5 credit hours
CPSC 5810 - Software Engineering Project I 4 credit hours ²
CPSC 5820 - Software Engineering Project II 4 credit hours ²

NOTE:

For students who complete CPSC 5200 as part of the Data Science specialization: CPSC 5200 will also apply towards the Software Engineering specialization and the overall credits required for the degree will be reduced to 65.
Satisfactory performance (B- or better) in CPSC 5810 and CPSC 5820 is required.
