Arabic Minor

Language/culture courses:

• ARAB 1150 - Arabic Language I
• ARAB 1250 - Arabic Language II
• ARAB 1350 - Arabic Language III
• ARAB 2150 - Arabic Language IV
• ARAB 2250 - Arabic Language V
• ARAB 2350 - Arabic Language VI

Elective Courses:

To be taken after completion of second year language/culture courses. Minimum of 5 credits from:

• ARAB 3910 / 4910 - Special Topics  
• HIST 3560 / INST 3560 - History of the Modern Middle East  
• HIST 3570 / INST 3570 - Women and Gender in the Middle East  
• Approved Study Abroad program : 5 to 15 credits

NOTES:

1. If a student’s native language is Arabic, the student may not receive an Arabic minor.
2. Minimum grade of C is required in each course.
3. The language courses must be taken in sequence, and the elective course or courses should be taken following the completion of the second-year language/culture courses.
4. Students who waive (through a placement test) one or more of the first-year language courses may fulfill the 35 credit requirement by taking one or more of the elective courses and/or through an approved study-abroad program in an Arabic-speaking country.
