Preparing students to work in various mental health and addictions settings, this program includes an internship at a mental health counseling agency, e.g., youth service bureaus; mental health centers; substance abuse and mental illness; correctional facilities. Students preparing for post-secondary setting may take appropriate electives and complete an internship in a post-secondary setting. Students are eligible to apply for State of Washington designation as Mental Health Counselor Associate after graduation. Additionally, addictions studies in the curricula will provide students the option to apply for State of Washington designation with appropriate experience.
