Interdisciplinary Arts with a Specialization in Arts Leadership, BA

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The interdisciplinary arts major builds on the cross-disciplinary nature of the Seattle University arts departments by allowing students to choose a specialization within the arts while they also integrate courses from other art forms. One student interested in musical performance might choose to bridge theatre and music, while another student might combine music and visual art courses to round out a specialization in production theatre. Individual programs are designed in consultation with a faculty advisor.

II. College of Arts and Sciences Requirements

  • Modern Languages 1150, 1250, 1350, or equivalent (15)

NOTE:

All students with a major in the College of Arts and Sciences must demonstrate competency through the level of 1350 in a language other than English. This competency is ordinarily achieved by successful completion of the three-course sequence: 1150, 1250, and 1350. Because these courses are a college requirement, no course in the sequence may be taken on a pass/fail, correspondence, or audit basis. Placement into other than the beginning course of the sequence is achieved by acceptable performance on the Modern Language Competency Examination. See the Modern Languages and Cultures Department for details on the examinations. Courses used to satisfy the College of Arts and Sciences modern language requirement may not be used to fulfill major requirements.

III. Major Requirements

65 credits in interdisciplinary arts, including 40 credits in specialization area:

Electives (25)

In addition to the specialization courses selected, choose the remaining credits, for a total of 65, in any combination of ART, ARTH, ARTL, ARTD, MUSC, PHOT, or THTR. In consultation with the student’s advisor, 10 of these credits must be from a discipline other than arts leadership (ARTL) and 10 must be taken at the 3000-4000 level. (see Course Descriptions )
