Objectives
The international business major prepares students for careers with firms engaged in international business. Emphasis is placed on perceiving the problems and opportunities of operating in an international environment.

Requirements
In order to earn the bachelor of arts in business administration degree with a major in international business, students must complete a minimum of 180 quarter credits with a cumulative and major/program grade point average of 2.25, including the following: I. Core Curriculum Requirements
Module I: Engaging Academic Inquiry
Module II: Engaging Jesuit Traditions
Module III: Engaging the World
II. Albers Business Foundation Requirements*
82 credits, including: Choose one of the following two courses:
Calculus, choose one of the following two courses:
III. Major Requirements*
25 upper-division credits, plus supplemental activities: Choose three of the following courses:
Functional Area Courses
Choose one additional course:
Choose one additional functional area course listed above or one of the following courses:

- General electives to total 180 (18)
Supplemental activities may satisfy general elective requirements. V. Supplemental Activities
Choose two activities from the following four:
- Demonstrate competency through the 135 level in a language other than English by successful course completion or acceptable performance on the Modern Language Competency Examination. The course may not be taken on a pass-fail, correspondence, or audit bases. Competency in languages not offered by the Modern Languages Department may be acceptable if approved by the International Business Program Director and successfully demonstrated to the Modern Languages Department.
- Complete a 3-5 credit internship (or the equivalent on a not-for-credit basis) with a company involved in international business in the Seattle area, pre-approved by the International Business Program Director. See the Albers Placement Center regarding internships for credit and the International Business Academic Advisor regarding not-for-credit internships.
- Participate in an international experience pre-approved by the International Business Programs Director. May include studies abroad, SU short-term summer field study, or other international experiences pre-approved by the International Business Programs Director. Only coursework verified through the Education Abroad course approval process will be eligible to earn transfer credit towards the SU degree.
- Earn an international economic development or international studies minor.
- Participation in Seattle University’s International Development Internship Program may satisfy 5 quarter credits of major electives.
NOTE:
Internships and independent studies may not be used to satisfy a major requirement.
International Business majors who are international students (educated abroad until age 16 in a language other than English) have met the supplemental activities requirement.
*Major requirements must earn a C- grade or better. |
