Degree Requirements


Minimum requirements for the degree are 47 graduate credits. A maximum of 12 credits taken in non-matriculated status may be applied to this program. Students may be allowed up to 10 transfer credits as described earlier in this Catalog . All degree requirements must be completed within six years after course work has begun.

*Students may be waived from one or more of these preparatory courses if they have prior equivalent coursework.

NOTES:


  1. A student can take both applied algorithms courses. The first course will satisfy the applied algorithms requirement. The second course will count towards the 15 credits of breadth electives. A single course cannot be used to simultaneously satisfy the applied algorithms requirement and an elective.
  2. A student can take both systems courses. The first course will satisfy the systems requirement. The second course will count towards the 15 credits of breadth electives. A single course cannot be used to simultaneously satisfy the systems requirement and an elective.
  3. A student can take multiple software development courses. The first course will satisfy the software development requirement. Subsequent course(s) will count towards the 15 credits of breadth electives. A single course cannot be used to simultaneously satisfy the software development requirement and an elective.
  4. For students selecting the project option, satisfactory performance (B- or better) in CPSC 5990 is required.
  5. For students selecting the course option, satisfactory performance (B- or better) in CPSC 5890 is required.

NOTE:


Students who have successfully completed a BS in computer science at Seattle University may apply up to 10 credits of 5000-level CPSC electives completed in the BS towards the breadth elective requirement.

Students may also take an additional 5-credit MSCS breadth elective to satisfy the general elective requirement.
