Requirements
In order to earn the bachelor of arts degree with a major in biology, students must complete a minimum of 180 quarter credits with a cumulative and major/department grade point average of 2.00, including the following: I. Core Curriculum Requirements
Module I: Engaging Academic Inquiry
Module II: Exploring the Self and Others
Module III: Engaging the World
II. Major Requirements
43 total credits in biology, including: Choose one of the following five options:
Choose one of the following six courses:
Choose one of the following five courses:
Senior Synthesis, choose one of the following two options:
III. Other Major Department Requirements
Chemistry
15 credits in chemistry, typically: Mathematics
Choose one of the following three courses: Science elective
- 5 credit science elective approved by department
NOTE:
At least 10 credits of the 40 non-senior synthesis biology course credits must be from 300- or 400-level courses (see course descriptions ). Some of the course choices may require prerequisites beyond the minimal degree requirements. A maximum of 5 credits of directed and or independent study in biology can be counted toward the 10 credits of biology electives. |
