HONR 2300 - The Rise of Science4 credit hours This seminar examines the 16th- and 17th-century Scientific Revolution beginning with its roots in earlier Greek, Indian, Chinese, and Islamic scientific inquiry and culminating in the work of Kepler, Galileo, Hooke, and Newton. It includes laboratory experiments in 17th century physics and laboratory exercises in early astronomical reasoning. Topics include the sociology of early science and women in science.
