NURS 6108 - Intrapartum and Newborn Lab

2 credit hours
Hands on practice and the development of muscle memory and situational awareness prepare students to practice as safe beginning level practitioners. Focus is on comprehensive interprofessional team participation and management of intrapartum and immediate postpartum care for women with normal births and common medical, surgical, and obstetrical complications across settings. Development and evaluation of evidence-based care approaches will be incorporated. Synthesis of evidence-based evaluation and management of the immediate care of the newborn is included. Students will examine and articulate roles and critically evaluate the impact of contextual factors on health care services with emphasis on vulnerable populations.
