PSYC 5335 - Mindfulness and Psychotherapy1 credit hour Mindfulness practice is a powerful therapeutic tool for clients and clinicians alike. In this course, we will explore mindfulness practices as a therapeutic intervention, as a way of enhancing insight, empathy, and compassion within the therapeutic alliance, but equally importantly, as a means for self-care for the therapist. Through readings, discussions, and exercises, students will gain an understanding of some core principles and philosophies of mindfulness and explore the integration of mindfulness-based interventions into their clinical work. Regular mindfulness practice outside of class will be required.
