MCFT 5601 - Clinical Extension

1 to 3 credit hours
Formerly - STMC 5601
The clinical sequence provides experience and training in couples and family therapy. By the end of the clinical sequence, students are required to accumulate a total of 400 clinical contact hours, 200 of which must be relational hours. In addition to face-to-face client contact and other onsite clinical work, students will meet at least one hour a week in individual supervision with a State or AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Class time will be composed of weekly faculty led group supervision with an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and 8 or fewer students. Students will deepen their knowledge and skills related to justice-oriented systemic treatment and ethical care.  This class is an extension of the clinical sequence and its requirements. The course is intended for students who, after enrolling in MCFT 5580, have not accumulated the required clinical and/or supervision hours. Requirements for Clinical Extension include client contact hours, required on-site individual supervision, required faculty-led university supervision, and administrative tasks related to a systemic therapy internship (e.g., clinical documentation, end of quarter evaluations). Students will earn 1 credit per 30 approved contact hours. Course enrollment requires approval of the director.
