MCFT 5220 - Couples and Family Therapy: Identity and Ethics

This course is a survey of professional identity, ethical standards, and moral dilemmas as related to couples and family therapy. Students will gain knowledge of systemic thinking and the scope of practice for licensed marriage and family therapists, including the review of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy’s (AAMFT) code of ethics, core competencies of the profession, Washington Administration Codes (WAC), and other laws that relate to the profession. Topics related to justice and resilience will guide discussions related to the practice of systemic therapy.
