NURS 5021 - Promoting Mental Health: Clinical

3 credit hours
The focus of this course is holistic nursing care that promotes health, prevents disease, reduces disability, and supports recovery for individuals of various developmental stages and sociocultural backgrounds who have alterations in mental health. Knowledge and research evidence from the biological and social sciences, genetics and genomics, pharmacology, humanities, and nursing are enlisted in the study of mental disorders, their care and treatment, and the impact of these disorders on the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities. Clinical learning experiences provide opportunities to apply the nursing process in the delivery of patient-centered, evidence-based care in community mental health and psychiatric settings. Registration restrictions may be bypassed by the department with permission of instructor.
