PSYC 5155 - Existential Integrative Therapy: Theory and Practice3 credit hours This course offers a survey of the central theories and current practices in psychotherapy through overarching framework of existential philosophy. Students will achieve a pluralistic perspective and appreciation for how different theoretical lenses can be applied to particular clinical issues and populations. We will explore how the existential-integrative lens can be applied to approaches such as psychodynamic, intersubjective, short-term therapy, cognitive behaviorism, person-centered, feminist, addiction, and trauma-informed care. Finally, the findings of common factors research will be highlighted to discuss the importance of the therapeutic alliance across theoretical orientations.
