NURS 6501 - Theory-Guided Psychotherapy and Health Promotion: Theory

This course examines theories and concepts that guide psychotherapy practice and the empowerment of individuals, families and groups to engage in health promotion and behavior change. Major psychotherapy models are analyzed for theoretical frameworks and evidence-based applications across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the role of the advanced practice psychiatric nurse in assessing readiness and motivation for behavior change and discerning legal, ethical and social justice issues in therapeutic relationships and psychotherapy practice.
