STMC 5590 - Clinical V

3 credit hours
The clinical sequence provides basic experience and training in couples and family therapy. Students will be at a clinical site 14-18 hours per week as they advance through six quarters of training. By the end of the clinical sequence, students are required to accumulate a total of 500 clinical contact hours, 200 of which must be relational hours. In addition to face-to-face client contact and other onsite clinical work, students will meet at least one hour a week in individual supervision with a State or AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Class time will be composed of three hours of weekly faculty led group supervision with an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and 8 or fewer students. Clinical V focuses on the provision of competent, ethical, multicultural care. Students will discuss the treatment of families, couples, and individuals who come from diverse races and ethnicities, genders and sexual identities, and religions and spiritual traditions. Prerequisite course: STMC 5580.
