STMC 5510 - Advanced Couples and Family Therapy Skills3 credit hours This course provides advanced skill formation for couple and family therapy students. Utilizing family therapy theory, clinical knowledge, skills, research, and spiritually integrated insights, students learn to conceptualize and treat client systems. Role-plays will afford students the opportunity to demonstrate skills such as active listening, reframing, circular questioning, and theory informed techniques. Students will learn how to develop, maintain, and terminate clinical relationships, establish goals, design intervention strategies, evaluate therapeutic outcomes, and write case conceptualizations that include treatment and safety plans.
