PHIL 355 - Environmental Ethics5 Examination of major ethical theories (utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics) and particular environmental theories (eco-feminism, the land ethic, deep ecology) in light of major environmental issues (the rights of nonhuman animals, duties to future generations of human beings, the moral status of nonsentient nature, the moral status of individuals as well as ecosystems, global ecological justice, etc.). Prerequisite: PHIL 210 or 220.
