PUBA 250 - Introduction to Urban Planning5 A survey of the activity and profession of urban planning as it evolved in the United States since the early 1800s. As a response to the challenges of growing urban areas, planning seeks remedies for physical, social, and economic problems. Course topics will provide an overview of how past events have shaped contemporary practice of directing land use, community, and comprehensive planning of our urban environment, and the political framework that directs the procedures and processes of the profession.
