ENGL 101 - Basic Writing5 Instruction and practice in basic writing skills with emphasis on generating, organizing, and developing ideas in paragraphs and short essays, as well as controlling sentence structure, punctuation, and standard usage. Through focus on the writing process, the course aims to increase students’ self-confidence as writers. Credits count toward graduation, but do not satisfy core writing requirements.
