ART 211 - Survey of Western Art I: Prehistoric through Medieval5 Broad historical overview of the architecture, sculpture, painting, and decorative arts of the cultures of the Ancient Near East and the West, ending circa 1400. Attention will be given to developing skills of visual literacy; examining art historical methodologies; and exploring connections with history, philosophy, anthropology, theology, and other art forms. Experiential aspect of the course will include visits to local galleries and museums. Fulfills fine arts core requirement.
