STMC 5530 - Couples Therapy3 credit hours Formerly - STMC 553 Students will examine relationships between couples as a crucible of human spiritual development. Basic theories of, and skills for, couples therapy will be introduced (e.g., Emotion-Focused Therapy) and deepened (e.g., Narrative and Multigenerational Therapy). Students will discuss the ways in which a variety of faith traditions influence the experience of couplehood. Students will practice using evidence and theory based interventions for couples treatment in case conceptualizations and role plays.
